Clockwork MIDI Generator

Clockwork is one of MIDI Maker’s experimental palettes: mallet and glass ostinatos that interlock like gears, a second melody in real counterpoint against the lead, and a harmony book of quartal stacks, chromatic mediants and loops that run five or seven bars.

What to listen for: Mallet and glass patterns grouped in threes over a straight four-beat pulse, so the accents keep sliding across the bar and lining up again.

Roll a clockwork track

Clockwork is included with the Pro and Studio plans; the free plan covers five genres. See pricing.

How the engine writes clockwork

The pitched lines ARE the machine — patterns of different lengths phasing against each other and realigning bars later over a double-tresillo bass. The pocket stays dead straight so every cross-rhythm reads, and the kit is a dry tick-and-click pulse on the grid: wire ticks, telegraph taps, a soft throb of a kick on the tresillo’s heads.

From a roll to your DAW

A roll defaults to 112 BPM (every preset and tempo is editable before and after generating) and plays back in the browser through the studio's own synths. When you like a take, export it as whole-track or per-instrument MIDI, or as WAV/MP3 audio — the drum part uses General MIDI numbering, so it lands correctly on any drum plugin. There are step-by-step import guides for Ableton Live, FL Studio and Logic Pro.
