Mercury is one of MIDI Maker’s experimental palettes — a kit of pressure and grain under it, a void kick and sand static with no clock to harden the surface. Its mechanism is liquid legato: lines that move by step on every note and never restate a pitch, long notes overlapping the next so two voices pour against each other like one surface folding over.
What to listen for: Smooth, unbroken lines that pour up and down by step without ever repeating a note, over wide, soft chords that change by barely moving.
Mercury is included with the Pro and Studio plans; the free plan covers five genres. See pricing.
How the engine writes mercury
The chords are wide 9th and 11th pools held two bars at a time, changing under common tones; the bass glides in whole-bar strides; attacks are soft, the chorus is generous and nothing anywhere is staccato. Melodic minor and Dorian keep the dark colour silvered.
From a roll to your DAW
A roll defaults to 92 BPM (every preset and tempo is editable before and after generating) and plays back in the browser through the studio's own synths. When you like a take, export it as whole-track or per-instrument MIDI, or as WAV/MP3 audio — the drum part uses General MIDI numbering, so it lands correctly on any drum plugin. There are step-by-step import guides for Ableton Live, FL Studio and Logic Pro.
