Balancing the MIDI Maker mix — volume, pan, reverb and delay sends, and mute/solo controls for each instrument.
Each instrument has a volume fader and a pan knob in the Mixer panel. Volume controls how loud the instrument sits in the mix relative to the others. Pan positions it in the stereo field — left, centre, or right.
The master output level is controlled separately by the mastering chain, so individual instrument volumes are always relative to each other, not to an absolute level.
Two shared effect buses run through the studio: a reverb and a delay. Each instrument has a send knob for each — controlling how much of the signal feeds into the shared effect bus.
Increasing the reverb send adds space and distance to an instrument; heavy reverb pushes something further back in the mix. Increasing the delay send adds rhythmic echo texture. Both effects return to the master bus and are always present in the final recording.
There is no dry/wet control for the buses themselves — only the per-instrument send amounts. Keep sends low for a close, dry sound, or push them up to sit an instrument deep in the room.
Click the M button on any instrument to mute it (silence it without removing it from the arrangement). Click again to unmute.
Click the S button to solo an instrument and silence all others. Multiple instruments can be soloed at the same time.
Mute and solo are transport-only states — they do not affect MIDI export or audio recording. A muted instrument still appears in the exported MIDI file.
The Mixer panel is one of three tabs at the bottom of the studio (alongside the Progression panel and the Motif Creator). Click the Mixer tab to bring it into view. Mute and solo buttons are also accessible directly from each instrument module in the display area.
