Caesura MIDI Generator

Caesura is one of MIDI Maker’s experimental palettes: the silence is composed. Short, intense phrases are separated by rests written into every part at once, so the whole ensemble speaks together and stops together. The kit obeys the same rests: it strikes with the block and falls silent with it.

What to listen for: Short, intense phrases that stop dead together: listen for the shared silences, and for phrases that are either a whisper or a shout, never in between.

Roll a caesura track

Caesura is included with the Pro and Studio plans; the free plan covers five genres. See pricing.

How the engine writes caesura

Phrases are pianissimo or forte with almost nothing between, two lines argue in contrary motion inside each window, and the harmony moves progressively so every return lands somewhere new. The dead bars are authored into the groove itself — they are the structure, not a gap in it.

From a roll to your DAW

A roll defaults to 88 BPM (every preset and tempo is editable before and after generating) and plays back in the browser through the studio's own synths. When you like a take, export it as whole-track or per-instrument MIDI, or as WAV/MP3 audio — the drum part uses General MIDI numbering, so it lands correctly on any drum plugin. There are step-by-step import guides for Ableton Live, FL Studio and Logic Pro.
