Marionette is one of MIDI Maker’s experimental palettes: two staccato lines that leap like limbs yanked on strings and then settle by step, with whole beats of genuine silence where the puppet just hangs. The kit is a whisper from the wings: a breath of a kick, a fog tap, dust, and a glass ping that shadows the puppet’s steps.
What to listen for: Jerky tunes that leap wide and then settle by step, sudden loud-soft flips, and comic full stops where the music hangs in mid-air.
Marionette is included with the Pro and Studio plans; the free plan covers five genres. See pricing.
How the engine writes marionette
Sixths and sevenths sit directly beside seconds in every line, nearly every leap recovers by step the other way, and sus-chord jabs poke at the offbeats. Velocities flip between whisper and full strike with nothing between, and the pocket is kept machine-tight because all the jerkiness is written in.
From a roll to your DAW
A roll defaults to 112 BPM (every preset and tempo is editable before and after generating) and plays back in the browser through the studio's own synths. When you like a take, export it as whole-track or per-instrument MIDI, or as WAV/MP3 audio — the drum part uses General MIDI numbering, so it lands correctly on any drum plugin. There are step-by-step import guides for Ableton Live, FL Studio and Logic Pro.
