Tectonic is one of MIDI Maker’s experimental palettes: rhythm as probability rather than groove. Note placement is a scattered field, velocities slam between whisper and full strike, and the harmony moves in held cluster slabs — including wedges that open a tight cluster into a wide stack.
What to listen for: Clouds of scattered notes over massive, dark clumps of chord, moving in blocks from near-silence to full weight like slowly shifting ground.
Tectonic is included with the Pro and Studio plans; the free plan covers five genres. See pricing.
How the engine writes tectonic
Two independent lines leap in mirrored motion over a dark pad mass and a sub drone, and the kit is the same probability field in pressure and grain — a void kick, static snaps and granular noise scattered on the mass’s own heads, no clock. Sections are blocks: near-silence against full mass, each standing in a new key.
From a roll to your DAW
A roll defaults to 126 BPM (every preset and tempo is editable before and after generating) and plays back in the browser through the studio's own synths. When you like a take, export it as whole-track or per-instrument MIDI, or as WAV/MP3 audio — the drum part uses General MIDI numbering, so it lands correctly on any drum plugin. There are step-by-step import guides for Ableton Live, FL Studio and Logic Pro.
